Off-campus access to online databases is available only to faculty, staff, and currently registered students of Seattle Pacific University.
Remote access requirements
SPU usernames and passwords are used for authentication, if you do not know, or have not yet set up, your SPU username and password please go to Find My ID to setup your account.
Please Note: SPU students must be currently registered. During term breaks, students must be registered for the next quarter (for example, Autumn Quarter registration ensures access over the preceding summer).
Remote database access expires on the last day of the quarter for students who are not registered for the subsequent quarter. Once registered, library access will be restored the next day.
Logging in
When you click on one of the database links while off campus, you should see a screen like the image below:
Enter your SPU username and password to log in to Library Resources.
If you are having problems logging in, try Find My ID if you may have forgotten your username or password. You can also check out the library’s troubleshooting guide for additional suggestions. You may also Ask A Librarian for assistance
Exceptions to the standard login
- ProQuest RefWorks uses your SPU email address and a password you created.
- You can use the “Forgot your password” option on the ProQuest RefWorks Login page to reset your password.
Make a resource link that allows remote access
SPU remote authentication works by adding the library's proxy information to the beginning of the resource URL. We have two ways to do that:
- Use our Off-campus access link generator to create a link that will work from off-campus.
- Install the EZProxy Bookmarklet as a favorite in your browser's favorite bar, then when you click on the favorite link, it will append our proxy to the front of your current web page.
These options will only work if we subscribe to the resource you are trying to access. If it returns a message saying to "contact your library and provide the name of the resource you were trying to access," we may not subscribe to the resource. You can double check our access by searching for it in the Library discovery system.
